If you're following me on Instagram (if you're not, you really should!!!) you may have noticed that I've been visiting neighbourhoods throughout Waterloo Region and giving you the run down on what makes them awesome.

Each neighbourhood has it's own life - it's own heartbeat. One of the things I love most about my job is helping match up my clients with the right neighbourhood. It's a bit like playing matchmaker.

Let's have a look at our first stop - Uptown Waterloo!

Uptown is the place to be if you love the hustle and bustle of the city, fantastic restaurants, festivals, adorable shops, love award winning architecture, live music venues, vibrant night life and that pedestrian lifestyle. There's a great mix of condo living with older century homes in Uptown

Some of my favourite Uptown Waterloo spots are Vincenzo's (if you know, you know!), The Bauer Kitchen, Red House Uptown and Famoso Pizzeria. We also love Waterloo Park, the Buskers Festival, the Waterloo Jazz Festival and so much more.

Head on over to my Instagram post and add your favourite spots in Uptown to the list. If this sounds like your dream neighbourhood, reach out and let's find some properties that match you perfectly!

Movie nights are one of my favourite things to do with my family and I am thrilled to be hosting this event, exclusive for my clients. I've rented out the incredible Benjamin Tree Farm just for us for the night!

Starting at 6:30 p.m. you're welcome to come check out the farm, the kids can run wild at the iconic playground or you can set up your chairs early to get the best movie watching spot. The gift shop will be open and there's some really cute insta-worthy spaces for some photos before the sun goes down.

Then around 7:30 the movie will start on our giant screen. Make sure you leave a couple minutes to pick up some treats, like popcorn, slushies, cotton candy or fill a bag from the candy bar!

This will be all outdoors so please bring your own lawn chairs, blankets, and whatever else you may need to be comfortable for the movie.

Please RSVP to http://evite.me/D6xNzHMrrB - I hope to see you there!

When I was 12 I signed up for a Public speaking event with the Optimist Club.

Our job was to write a speech about something we felt passionate about and then present it in front of our parents and the Optimist members.

I spent hours and hours on my speech, and my topic was how similar our life is to roller coasters and that success was how well we could manage the ups and downs.

Like - what?! I was 12, and man if I only knew how true this was going to be for my future!

The night of the speech I looked out at the crowd. here was a huge group and my Mom was there too, and suddenly I was terrified.

I was so worried what everyone was going to think of me, and what I would know about the ups and downs of life at only 12.

Anyways - I stood up on that makeshift platform and literally forgot every single word of my speech. I just bumbled a bunch of sentences, and quickly sat down.

I was mortified and so mad at myself.

But I remember my Mom hugging me and telling me I did great. It was a moment that scared me, but it also led me in so many ways.

I mean I screwed up, but I still got the plaque,

I still got a huge round of applause and kind words from my Mom. I still did the hard work, and learned it all. It was a moment, I realize in hindsight, that although I made mistakes, I still succeeded.

What if we looked more like this at our own lives?

Like maybe you don’t nail the ending, but everything else goes well.

Maybe your parenting day doesn’t feel like a win, but everyone survived.

Maybe your house isn’t exactly how you want it, but it’s cozy and happy.

Perhaps the whole lesson of this speech, was that life is going to go up and down, and I just need to give myself grace, when I don’t get it done perfectly.
